Refreshed design, premium features and a new transmission strengthen Škoda’s position in India’s competitive midsize-sedan market

Škoda Auto India has unveiled the updated Slavia sedan, bringing a refreshed design, upgraded technology and a significant transmission update to one of its key products in the Indian market. The facelift was unveiled on August 18, 2026, with bookings now open and deliveries expected to begin around the upcoming festive season. Variant-wise pricing has not yet been announced.

The updated Slavia retains its familiar sedan silhouette but receives several exterior changes designed to give it a sharper and more contemporary appearance. The revised front end features redesigned LED headlamps, updated daytime running lights, a refreshed grille and revised bumpers. At the rear, redesigned LED tail lamps with sequential indicators add another visual upgrade, while new alloy-wheel designs further differentiate the facelifted model.

Technology Takes Centre Stage

Inside the cabin, Škoda has focused heavily on technology and comfort. Depending on the variant, the new Slavia gets a digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system and enhanced connectivity. The infotainment system integrates Google Cloud’s Automotive AI Agent, bringing AI-assisted voice interaction into the vehicle.

One of the most notable additions is a rear-seat massage function, positioned as a segment-first feature. The sedan also gains a 360-degree Area View camera and front parking sensors, adding convenience in urban driving and tighter parking environments. Automatic climate control is now standard across the range.

New 8-Speed Automatic

The biggest mechanical change comes in the transmission department. The 1.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine is now available with a new eight-speed torque-converter automatic transmission, replacing the previous six-speed automatic. The 1.0 TSI continues to be offered with a six-speed manual, while the more powerful 1.5-litre TSI continues with a seven-speed DSG automatic.

The move gives Škoda a stronger proposition for buyers looking for a conventional automatic transmission, particularly in city traffic where smooth and convenient gear changes are increasingly important.

Strengthening the Sedan Portfolio

The Slavia facelift arrives at a time when India’s midsize-sedan market remains highly competitive, with the model facing rivals including the Volkswagen Virtus, Hyundai Verna and Honda City. Rather than relying solely on cosmetic changes, Škoda has combined design updates with technology, comfort and mechanical improvements.

For Škoda Auto India, the refreshed Slavia represents more than a routine facelift. It reflects the company’s broader strategy of keeping its India-focused product portfolio competitive through feature upgrades, localized product development and greater attention to evolving customer expectations.

With its updated styling, AI-enabled infotainment, enhanced comfort features and new eight-speed automatic, the new Slavia aims to reinforce Škoda’s position in a segment where buyers increasingly expect premium technology without giving up driving engagement.
