The Vietnamese EV manufacturer plans to establish a dedicated electric two-wheeler retail network across 34 cities in 15 states and Union territories, alongside plans to strengthen charging infrastructure and after-sales support.
Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast is expanding its India ambitions beyond electric cars, signing letters of intent (LOIs) with more than 50 dealer partners to establish a dedicated network for electric two-wheelers. Announced on October 8, 2026, the proposed network will span 34 cities across 15 states and Union territories, marking the company’s first dedicated distribution network for electric two-wheelers in India.
The planned showrooms will cover markets across northern, central, western, southern and eastern India. The identified regions include Delhi-NCR, Rajasthan, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal and Odisha. VinFast said these markets offer opportunities to expand electric mobility because of their substantial two-wheeler demand.
The company is also planning to strengthen charging infrastructure and after-sales services in the locations covered by the proposed network. These services will be important to the ownership experience as VinFast works to establish its presence in a market where customers increasingly have a choice of electric two-wheeler brands.
The agreements were signed at VinFast’s manufacturing complex in Hai Phong, Vietnam, during a visit by prospective Indian dealer partners. The company said the visit included exposure to its manufacturing operations and electric two-wheeler products.
VinFast entered India’s electric mobility market in 2025, with activities spanning the distribution, manufacturing and assembly of electric cars. Its move into the two-wheeler segment would broaden its presence in India’s automotive market and introduce a dedicated retail channel for its electric two-wheelers.
The opportunity is significant in scale. According to figures cited by VinFast, India recorded 21.41 million two-wheeler registrations in the 2025–26 financial year, of which electric vehicles accounted for 6.54%. These figures point to room for further electrification, although converting that potential into sales will depend on factors such as vehicle pricing, product suitability, charging access and service availability.
For VinFast, the immediate priority will be to translate the dealer agreements into operational showrooms and establish the supporting infrastructure needed to serve customers. The planned expansion signals its intent to compete in India’s electric two-wheeler market, but the timing of showroom openings and the details of its India-specific product lineup have not been confirmed in the announcement.
